Barbados is located in the western Atlantic Ocean, east of the Caribbean Sea, west of St. Vincent and St. Lucia, southeast of Florida and Miami. It has been a sovereign independent state within the Commonwealth since 1966. The country's judicial, political and administrative institutions are patterned on the British system. The business and official language is English with local ‘Bajan’ dialect as the second official language.
Barbados is a thriving and highly reputable centre for international business and financial services. It has been successfully attracting foreign investments because of its political, social and economic stability, friendly and well-regulated business environment, high international rankings, low corporate tax policy, well-educated human resources, as well as high quality infrastructure. Besides, it is recognized as the only independent Caribbean jurisdiction which has implemented the tax standard.
