With a diverse background and unique experiences, Tamatoa brings a valuable perspective to his role with the Cook Islands Financial Services Development Authority. Prior to taking on his role as CEO, Tamatoa was working in the financial industry in the Cook Islands managing complex international corporate and trust transactional work and structured wealth management strategies for businesses and high net worth individuals. Tamatoa has previously lived in Asia, the United States, and several countries in the Pacific. His appreciation for diversity and his prior experience working in the IT industry equips him to expand and energize the Cook Islands financial industry.
In his role as CEO, Tamatoa is charged with growing the Cook Islands international financial services industry and promoting the jurisdiction to new markets. He also acts as a liaison between the Cook Islands government and the financial services industry.
Tamatoa graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Information Systems and Political Science from Brigham Young University - Hawaii, Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution from Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Pacific and Asian Legal Studies law certificate from University of Hawaii, and Juris Doctor from University of Hawaii.
